brief summaryThe WINEPLAN project is a European co-operation project, part-financed by the European Regional Development Fund - Programme INTERREG III C EAST, the Italian State, the Land Hessen (D), the Land Lower Austria (A) as well as by the project partners.It’s main aim is an exchange of experience and transfer of know-how between the partners on the possibility to improve the quality management and quality offer of wine regions in Europe, aimed at a coordinate and sustainable development, involving local stakeholders. The motivation for this project is the perceived need of Local Public Administrations and Regional promotion and development agencies for new approaches in the management of wine producing regions. The project partners face actually problems like demography (or abandonment or expansion of near big cities), weak or ineffective co-ordination between public policies and private initiatives, and the necessity to qualify their areas as attractive regions, strengthening the appeal and image of this regions for wine tourism and to support the direct marketing of wines and typical products (cheese, olive oil, etc.). Therefore, WINEPLAN partners intend to develop new alternative strategies to improve living and working conditions in these regions. Keywords for this actions are: sustainable development strategies, cultural landscape protection measures, local co-ordination and public-private partnerships, quality management for services and products, alternative income opportunities, innovative communication and information actions, involvement of stakeholders in decision making processes, regional promotion campaigns, and last but not least the support and innovation of local identities. |
